Don't Drake & Drive

It’s 2013 and you are leaving the club. You grab the AUX and put something on to wind down for the drive home. It's Drake that you chose, of course. “Own It” comes on and so do your feelings. Perhaps it was the Ciroc. But most likely it’s the fact that Drake seems to have the ability to read minds. How does he know that you are thinking about that one person who’s been keeping you in the friend zone and keeps leaving you on read? Oddly specific. If only you could give them a taste of their own medicine.
You were doing so well and staying strong. You were killing it at the single life; focusing on your workouts, picking up shifts at work to pay for your Miami trip, and even getting over 100 likes on all your Instagram pictures. You even told your friends while pre-gamming that you couldn’t care less if so and so showed up to the club. But now, look at you. You’re crying in the Whataburger drive-thru listening to Drake, again. And guess what my friend? You're Drake-ing and driving. And now people are starting to honk at you, because you are holding up the line.
As a millennial, I don’t think there is another hip-hop artist who was always there, narrating my young-adult years quite like Drake. Other than perhaps Beyoncé, Rihanna, or even Chris Brown. One could even mention The Weeknd in this argument. However, Abel is a couple of years and Number 1’s short of Aubrey. Even Beyonce couldn't quite make me cry in the drive-thru like Drake. So next time you’re thinking about drinking and driving, remember… don't make permanent decisions on temporary emotions. After all, Drake’s lyrics don’t come with a warning label. Let’s just use the lyrics as captions for now.
